Can you track mobile using IMEI number?

The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is specific to the handset. The mobile number is associated with the SIM card. If you swap a different SIM card into the mobile phone, it will have a different mobile number but the same IMEI number.

The mobile company will have a record of the IMEI of the handset that used a particular mobile number for a particular call, and your mobile provider has a record of the IMEI of any phone you purchased from them, but you cannot in general trace the IMEI by the mobile number.
