How do you take sugar from a soft drink?

Evaporate it?

To purify the sugar from the drink would be very difficult, considering there are about 20 different compounds in a drink. Evaporation would also be difficult, because as the solution becomes more concentrated towards the end of the process, the sugar would start to gel and may react with some of the other molecules. Sugar is very polar like water, so the last 5% or so of water would be really hard to get rid of. Treating it chemically at the last stage might would work, with some sort of drying agent like calcium sulfate. This poses a new problem though of separating the sulfate from the sugar.
