keep it up to date with its vaccines, bloodwork, exams and feed real human food. you can get a recipe from the veterinarian. do not chop its skin and sterilization is optional. they are small dogs so make sure their space is always under your control or they will slip away from you. treat him as part of the family and teach it your Word for sit after he looks up at you and sits down naturally waiting for a bit of your food. teach him the basic commands especially heel. give him a name and if you are going to leave him alone all day, make sure you have someone take him for a walk at lunch time. dont tell anyone he is a pit bull. tell them he is a short haired terrier. you must buy him winter shoes and a winter sweater and never let him run out of clean cold water. buy or make him his own bed and never give him real bones. be very gentle, kind and sincere with him until he is at least 6 months old. even at 6 months his brain is still growing in size. buy all sorts or neat toys for him but only give him 2 to play with at one time. dont buy a dog if you are having a baby. bath him every week in warm water. it doesnt matter what kind of shampoo you use. make sure you clean his/her private parts well and a soaked wet towel in between baths is a must. dont use a body halter until he is very good at walking on a leash and responds to your voice and hand commands. keep everything off the counters and hide all electrical cords. never leave him alone with any other animal or child. dont use preventative flee or heart worm controls in the winter. brush his teeth at least every second day with doggie toothpaste. buy low fat, low caffeine, low sodium treats. invest in a very good nail clipper. ask the vet to show you how to clip them. take him lots of places with you but dont let anyone bother him and try not to use off leash dog parks. dont use a muzzle unless its at the vet. they love car rides but try to find a comfortable seat belt for him. dont let him swim in natural water. its a mistake to think that picking up a dog is bad. buy a large not completely closed in crate. be carefull not to step on his legs or toes and never walk up or down stairs beside him because they need to walk slightly sideways. he will have pee accidents in the house for quite a while. let him know that he can use the bathroom floor if there is an emergency. put papers there for him and get mad when he doesnt use it. take him outside for pee and poop after every meal. dont worry about walking him much until he is much older. and dont let him mix too much with older dogs because they will suddenly snap at him.
