I think ceramic is better because it gets hotter and sometimes you can even control the heat depending on the iron. Remember you get what you pay for!

i have a metal one and it works really well you just have to use heat protectant, and you hair does not get damaged. i recommend chi heat protectant and chi silk infusion... it is not expensive, unlike the chi flat irons.
