What the importance of southeast Asia to US?

Because of it's an area that is in both the US and China rings of influence, it is also an important way for the US to export through to countries like Australia, Indonesia, New Zeland, and Singapore. Thishas never fully be dominated by a major power. It is the most diverse region (except for Europe). It also has a history of instability, plus it's vast amount of resources.
