What is freebasing?

Chemically altering cocaine so as to make it smokable. (Crack is a cheap impure form of freebase cocaine). It is both highly addictive and highly dangerous; in 1980, comedian Richard Pryor famously set himself on fire while freebasing cocaine and drinking rum.
