Where did lilies originate?

The northern hemisphere is the place of origin of the flowering plants called lilies (Liliumspp).

Specifically, lilies most often are native to the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. But some species also can be found in native ranges of northern subtropical regions. In terms of continents, the native range includes Asia, Europe, and North America as well as the Philippine islands.
