Does ignorance or knowledge bring destruction in lord of the flies PLEASE answer thanks?

From what I understand after reeding the book is that destruction comes when Jack becomes uncivilized and barbaric. In my opinion the answer to your question is ignorance for all Jack wants to do is hunt pigs instead of keeping the signal which was a logical thing to do.
