In the Novel The Running Man What is the Significance of Silkworms?

The significance of silkworms in the "Running Man" are very easily figured out.

Tom Leyton says that the silkworms are a simple creature.

He says "They are born into the box, they live, they die." That is what Tom Leyton is refering to.

That he is like a silkworm, he is born, he lives then he dies.

That he has no perpose on earth. I also suggest not reading the end because it is very sad:(
