Why cant vampire go into sunlight?

Vampires are mythical

there is no real reason it depends on the story

Twilight Vampires can go into the sun

they sparkle

most other vampires skin burns and it is consitered a curse

in The Vampire Diearys this is the story

there are however many vampires that can go out into the sun
