What is the name for all of the plants and animals living together in one area like a pond?

By relying on other species, a little world is created where everything is harmonious and self sufficient. The good and the bad are balanced out; there is a balance between predators, herbivores, bacteria, food, and water. If one of these increases or decreases significantly, the ecosystem can be put in danger.
