Accordions do not have strings but are members of the wind instrument family. They produce sound when air is passed through reeds producing sound. These Musical Instruments consist of several components such as treble and bass keyboards, reed plates, piano keys or buttons, couplers as well as bellows. The right-hand side of your Accordion is made up of several components with the keys or buttons accounting for up to eighty per cent of the treble keyboard. The main components of the treble keyboard include aluminium, plastic, steel, wool, felt, buttons or keys and springs. Treble reeds are fixed onto reed plates by one rivet where bass reeds on the other hand are attached onto reed plates by two rivets of different sizes. Accordion reeds are made of highly tempered steel providing greater flexibility. If these reeds were made of softer steel they would rust in contact with moisture.
