Toddlers are so young and new at life still. They are still learning and will continue to learn things until the day they die- as will any human being.
This is a time in their lives when they are experiencing SO MANY new things and trying new things as well as pushing the limits with mom and dad to see how far they get away with things. They won't know that they can or cannot do something until they are told- and sometimes they still won't understand that until they are told it over, and over and over again!
They interpret life as a game and fun time! Sometimes their little minds want to play when we need to be rushing around to leave, or trying to rest and relax. They seem to always want to do the opposite of what we would like them to do! But it's normal. They need to be active and mischievous! That's how they learn! You needn't let it bother you! You were young once too and had parents that had to raise you! Teaching children is part of being a parent, and raising them right is our job as parents. When they start to pull on our last patient thread that we have it's just time for a break for mom or dad- that's all. A few minutes or hours to yourself should boost you back up to where you need to be in order to be the best you can for your little one! Call a friend, relative, neighbor or someone you can trust to stay with your toddler while you get out for a walk or break until you have cooled off or rested yourself!
Never, never let a child frustrate you to the point of wanting to be abusive towards them. Children are just that: children. They often do things that they do not, and cannot understand. When you feel like you are at that boiling point just ask for help.
