When did Sony first come out?

Sony was founded on May 7, 1946, in Tokyo, Japan, originally as a small electronics shop called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo. The company later adopted the name "Sony" in 1955, which is derived from the Latin Word "sonus," meaning sound, and the colloquial term "sonny," referring to young boys or little sons.
