The chances are very low. The failure rate of modern IUDs (coils) is under 1% per year. The failure rate for condoms is about 15% per year. Thus a couple using both methods could expect a pregnancy about once every 500 years.

Remember -- the IUD does not provide protection against sexually transmitted diseases.
