Call your local city or county government office that handles "solid waste disposal" and ask them. They have all the dope on recycling and disposal of everything from appliances to chemicals to motor oil. The government has made it its business to be involved with keeping things (the environment) clean, and they have people who can give you the scoop. Hit your city's or county's web site for a start and see what they have. If you bomb out, hit your state's web site. They must have something to be in compliance with federal regulations. (They take federal monies to help with recycling and waste disposal, so they better have someone who can help you.)
