Baker is like any other modern day casegood manufacturer. I used to work for them and in that time I saw their products go from quality hardwood and exotic veneers to 'chip core' laminate. Most of their products (except upholstery) are now being made overseas, pacific rim. The real issues arise in quality in the level of moisture in their wood. You see when you glue together two different kinds of wood and then they dry and swell at different rates on the journey to the U.S. there will be problems. Believe me you'd think the cost of the products would have gone down. Not at all, in fact designers push the junk hard, not really knowing what their pushing. Returns are high and even most employees don't want the stuff. When big lots & Walmart can sell a case product made on foreign soil for a low price but Baker won't you gotta wonder who's looking our for who. Just because it is expensive doesn't mean it is good.
