Where is no 1 cylinder and how are they numbered on a small block chevy?

Number 1 on a small block Chevy is very front cylinder on the drivers side. They are numbered from front to rear on drivers side 1-3-5-7 and on the passenger side front to rear 2-4-6-8. Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
