Most societies have some sort of creation myth. Creation myths come in many forms but can be broadly grouped into the following categories: Creation from Nothing. Creation by dismemberment of primordial condition or primordial man. Creation by divers or various animals . . . creation from nature. Eternal return, or re-creation. When one studies them all one recognizes that what matters is the ordering of creation. Who is in charge of what and how did it come to be so? The Bibilical creation story is actually an amalgamation of a variety of older stories. We see figures who were gods in older religions get demoted in the new Abahamic worldview, for example, the serpent in the garden who offers up Apples is NOT satan. Satan is actually rarely named in Hebrew tradition and most certainly not the devil. Early Christians linked together the two concepts. The serpent is Tiamat, who created the world according to the Babylonian tradition. In short, ever creation story is different because they are promulgated and believed by differing communities. It's like a last name. It may be different between peoples, but the purpose is pretty similar.
