Why was Amelia Earhart called Lady Linda?

Her name was not Linda. Lady Lindy was a pun on Charles Lindbergh- the aviator of Spirit of St. Louis fame. She was a lady- and a famous pilot- so the two terms were coupled. No direct connection with the Lindy Hop - a type of dance. (but that was also named in(honor) of the airman!
