heres something to try.I had this happen when i took home a craftsman.if the blades do not spin free w the belts loose., the bushings in the mower deck may be siezed or close.the should spin free w/ the deck disengaged.if they are turning hard they may be stalling the engine.the repair is remove the deck from the machine and invert thedeck remove the bolt that holds the blade on and there are bolts usually4 sometimes the bolts snap, dont worry the part you will replace held the blade under the deck and had a pulley on the top of it. the other sidelremove the bolts and remove the bearing. this is the whole unit . remove and replace both at the same time . bring w/ you to parts place and they can match them up. try to get the ones w/ grease fitings.arnold co. sells aftermarket.also its a good time to look at the mounting surface that the bearings were mounted to clean off and inspect for rust andweak metal.clean off and repaint w/ rustolium or the like and paint the whole deck if it needs it.clean off all grass underneith, this will help in cleaning it and grass has moisture and will rust out the deck. good luck, erich
