Montgomery Wards was a department store. Among the products they sold were rifles and shotguns. These were made by other companies, but marked with Montgomery Wards brand name- Westernfield. Your rifle was made for them by Mossberg, and is the equivalent of a Mossberg Model 45B. Made from 1938-1940, these very VERY accurate bolt action rifles. And sorry, no- no manual. Back then the buyer was expected to know something about guns, and they usually did not come with much in the way of instructions.
