The late Frances Bavier , December 14, 1902 -- December 6, 1989 , who played Beatrice "Aunt Bee" Taylor is laid to rest in the Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City , North Carolina . Upon her headstone are the Words "To live in the hearts of those left behind is not to die."
