Many online and catalog companies use special discount codes in order to track the success or failure of their marketing and promotional efforts. These codes usually look like a line of numbers and letters. They can also just be regular Words. The larger companies rely heavily on discount codes.

One thing to understand is that anyone can use one of these codes. They can be searched for online and are not attached to anything else other than the discount itself. Most discount codes can also be used more than once up until the date that it expires.
