Baby bunnies are born after a gestation period of about 30 days. The mother rabbit will create a nest out of fur and grass, where she will give birth to a litter of typically 4-12 babies, called kits. The birth process is quick and usually occurs at night. The mother will lick the babies clean and then cover them with fur before leaving them in the nest to keep warm. The kits are born blind and hairless, but they quickly grow and develop over the next few weeks.
