Once the beekeeper has captured the queen, she typically places her in a small, ventilated cage or a queen introduction cage. This cage may contain a few worker bees to keep the queen company and help with her acceptance into a new colony. The beekeeper then introduces this cage into the hive where she intends for the queen to be housed. This allows the worker bees to acclimate to her presence before she is released into the colony.
