How do you relieve pain after a kidney stent is inserted?

I didn't find the removal itself painful, just a bit of burning. The real pain started a few minutes after it was out and it was excruciating. I had to take Vicodin every few hours. I am no stranger to pain, I have done natural childbirth twice and passed several kidney stones. I am not sure why the pain is so severe. The doctors office just keeps telling me to take Vicodin and Advil. I am on day 3. Luckily, the pain comes and goes. Wow! I am shocked at how much pain I am in. This doesn't seem right. I can't wait for this ordeal to be over with. I have been in agony. I think the dr. office thinks I am over reacting.
