Well there is no way of really telling. The best way to know is to ask. But that could scare him/her off. You can bring it up in conversation if you want and casually ask. Don't be blunt about it though or it could come off the wrong way. If you are wanting your partner to be a virgin, then you might say something like " It is important to me that the person I marry is a virgin because I want to save myself for the right person" and see where conversation goes from there.
