Why is billy willing to give his youngest sister the cup in Where the Red Fern Grows?

Billy has 3 sisters because he gave the gold cup to the youngest, and the two older ones argued over the silver. Billy's father had to give the oldest a silver dollar. so Billy has 3 sisters. (all are younger than him)
