The advantages include: they are able to specialise is specific aspects of care, and provide these specialised services at cheaper rates then a nonspecialist care agencies.
Disadvantages include: patient specific data may be known to one agency, but not passed on to others. This can result in patients receiving inappropriate care for their needs. Also, the more agencies are involved, the more complicated it becomes to organise care - it becomes more confusing as to "who is responsible for what?". It is also more difficult to monitor the work (whether it is appropriate and effective for the patient?) of multiple agencies.
