Linen torn up from sheets. Just because it was the slave days, it did not mean the did not have the necessities or knowledge of how to keep clean and look after themselves. Just the same question asking, "What did they use in the days of 'Oliver Twist'?" Or "What did the native Indians use in the 'Pocahontas' days?" or "What did the 'Cave Women' use at the begining of time?"
