A metaphor is a literary analogy, a comparison of a person, thing, or act with another dissimilar object or concept, without using the Words "like" or "as" (which would be a simile).

Examples : "The waiting room was a furnace." (it was hot)

Examples : "The politician hatched an ambitious plan." (he developed it, as a chick from an egg)
