How much was rent in 1996?

There is no 'boiler plate' figure for apartment rental rates for any given year. Rents are based upon region, amenities, square footage, one store or two story, number of bedrooms, etc etc etc. Need more specific information in order to present an informed answer.

From a personal standpoint I was paying $996.00 per month in 1998, but it was a very upscale place and it was a townhome (2 floors).
