Within the first 24 hours there may be a little bleeding, this should stop at the end of 24 hours. It can take that much time for small vessels to knit and close. However if you experience bleeding past the 24 hour time period you should consider consulting your piercer. If bleeding is heavy within the first 24 hours, make your way to the emergency room asap. There is a possibility that an artery has been cut, this is a serious matter that requires medical intervention. Tongue piercing is a serious matter and should only be done by an experienced (5 years or better) professional body piercer. Not all tongues are the same vessels and arteries can be hidden from view when the clap is applied and care must be taken to avoid large vessels and arteries.
