What are dolphnis young called?

Dolphins' young are called calves. After a gestation period of about 12 months, a mother dolphin typically gives birth to a single calf, although twins can occur on rare occasions. Calves are born tail-first to prevent drowning and are usually nursed for several months to a couple of years before they become independent.
