Registered farm vehicles DO NOT require a CDL, provided the following conditions are met:

  • They are not used on a for-hire basis for a third party
  • Activities of the vehicle are exclusively for farm use
  • The vehicle is registered as a farm vehicles, and has farm plates
  • The vehicle is operated by the farmer, their family, or direct employees of the farmer.

However, states have jurisdiction over licencing requirements for vehicles exempt from CDL requirements. You need to check with the Wyoming DMV to see what their non-CDL licencing requirements are for the class of vehicle you wish to operate.
