In Italian the name means 'goddess' and is pronounced (in-DAYah)

Some Russians believe it is from the name Nadia (it's longer version 'Nadezhda') which means 'Hope'. Pronounced something like Nadia but the emphasis or accent is on the second syllable. (nh-DAY-ah)
