No one's really sure. Some people say yes, they've broken timing belts and bent the valves so it's got to be an interference engine. Others say they've broken them and not bent valves so it isn't. And still others claim the engine WASN'T interference when it came from the factory but carbon buildup reduced clearance enough to make it interference.

My recommendation is to change the timing belt often enough that you don't have to worry about breaking it.
