Why was Tobey Maguire replaced with Andrew Garfield as the new Spider-Man?

Tobey Maguire was actually not replaced by Andrew Garfield. The film decided to go in a different direction and chose to make a reboot or replacement movie that focuses more on Peter Parker's High School years. That being said, casting went in a different direction and chose Andrew Garfield to fill the younger lead role. The film will be released in summer of 2012. Andrew Garfield's name may be unknown to many, however, this British American actor has starred in movies like the Social Network and Never Let Me Go.
