To successfully root magnolia cuttings in water, follow these steps:
- Take a cutting from a healthy magnolia tree, about 6-8 inches long.
- Remove the lower leaves from the cutting.
- Place the cutting in a container of water, making sure the nodes are submerged.
- Change the water every few days to prevent rot.
- Keep the cutting in a warm, bright location but out of direct sunlight.
- Roots should start to form in a few weeks. Transplant the cutting into soil once roots are well established.
