The classic board game Battleship was originally created by the Milton Bradley Company in 1967. However, its roots can be traced back to a similar pencil-and-paper game called "Salvo," which was played in the early 20th century. Milton Bradley later produced and marketed the game as a plastic version, which has since become a popular family game. In 1998, Hasbro acquired Milton Bradley, and Battleship continues to be a well-known product under Hasbro's brand.
