Can bread cause diarrhea in dogs?

Plain bread with no seasoning or additives should not cause diarrhea. However, greasy or buttery bread, bread containing fruit, veggies, or other food chunks, spices or seasonings very well could cause diarrhea, vomiting, or toxicity depending on the ingredients. There is of course the rare case in which ANY food other than that which the dog is accustomed to will cause gastrointestinal issues. In addition, eating a large amount of bread can run the risk of causing bloat in larger dogs-a very serious condition that usually requires surgery to fix and which can quickly become fatal.
