Who plotted to kill Daniel?

Daniel was targeted for assassination by a group of administrators and satraps who were envious of his high position and favor with King Darius. They devised a plan to trap him by convincing the king to issue a decree that prohibited prayer to any god or man except for the king himself. When Daniel continued to pray to God, they reported him to the king, leading to his arrest and subsequent punishment in the lions' den.
