When a baby horse dies what happens to the mother?

The mother horse, or mare will mourn buy the foals side, waiting for either a predator or the breeder to take her foal away. This may damage her feelings, and she will have a hard time coming back to her usual spirits, so gentle exercise is a good idea, along with daily trotting and walking alongside you.
