Yes!

I am the Office Manager in charge of Living Wellness Chiropractic in Columbia, MD, and I'm responsible for the billing. We bill 1-2 chiro procdedures (98940-98943) and 1-4 physical therapy procedures (97110: Therapeutic Exercise, 97140: Manual Therapy, 97150: Group Therapy, 97012: Traction) for every patient who needs these services.

In order for the chiro to be able to bill physical therapy services, however, the chiro must have a Physical Therapy privilege on his or her license. I'm not certain how this is obtained, but I'm sure this information can be found on your state's Chiropractic Board website.

I highly recommend it. The average reimbursement for the chiro codes is about $23. When the other physical therapy codes are billed, the reimbursement for the visit jumps to about $71 (1 adjustment + 3 modalities).

At the end of the day, just make sure all the rules are being abided by - don't do anything illegal to try and make money.

I've seen insurance companies audit Chiro offices after paying the extra $45 or so. The insurance companies then took the cash all back after the audits (lump sums ranging from $280,000-$430,000). It's not worth it.

Hope that helps. And good luck!
