What are the protagonists in The Scarlet Letter and Fahrenheit 451?

I suppose that they both live in very strict societies with limited freedoms. The reasons are different, but the situations are somewhat similar. Also, both protagonists are rebels against the rules which they are expected to live, and both try to keep their rebellion quiet in some ways, in order to get along in the society. Both their secrets are revealed... They are shunned from decent society.
