Do Araneus cucurbitinus bite

One bit me last summer close to my elbow but on the thicker part of my lower arm. It swelled up quite large and became very, very, warm to the touch and turned red. There were two fang marks that oozed clear liquid for about 2 weeks. It was very uncomfortable.
