What is fushigi yuugi?

Fushigi Yûgi (ふしぎ遊戯) is a Japanese manga written and drawn by mangaka Yu Watase. It has 18 volumes in total, 52 episodes and many OVAs dedicated to it.

The manga describes two girls who are pulled into a book The Universe of the Four Gods from the public liberay where they discover love, fight against evil, go through blackmail and so forth.

This manga has a prequel that was written after the finish of the original story called Fushigi Yûgi Genbu Kaiden(ふしぎ遊戯 玄武開伝). The prequel tells of the creation of the book The Universe of the Four Gods and another young priestess.
