How big are manatees when they are first born?

Manatee calves are typically about 3 to 4 feet long at birth and weigh between 60 to 120 pounds. They are born live, usually after a gestation period of about 12 months. Calves are able to swim shortly after birth and rely on their mothers for milk and protection in the early stages of life.
