What was the Nazi assault 1933 to 1939?

It can reasonably be said that there was a 'Nazi assault' between 1933 and 1939, that is, before the actual outbreak of World War II. For one thing, during this time-period the Nazis were assaulting traditional freedoms within their own country -- and successfully replacing them with their own fascist control. For another thing, during this time period the Nazis were assaulting the integrity and independence of other European nations, mostly through diplomacy, Propaganda, and threats but with an ever-increasing willingness to make actual war.
